LUCY STORRS
“I am a London based artist, however my inspirations remain quite wild. I grew up on a rugged sheep farm on Dartmoor with lots of brothers and sisters and a cacophony of animals. Bizarrely with life’s twists and turns I now find myself using wool as my preferred artistic medium of choice.”
Lucy’s current work focuses on the land, they are loose expressive works influenced by ever changing weather under expansive skies, something she misses since living in the city.
Her work is unusual for its choice of medium – wool – which many people initially mistake for oils or pastels.
Lucy loves that things are not always what they seem. Wool has unique properties of texture and vibrancy. Her work is sought after by collectors, both in the UK and overseas.
Although primarily self taught she studied photography and film making at Plymouth College of Arts, this has no doubt influenced her work along with her love of piano improvisation and dance.
Lucy was short listed for the National Open Art competition last year and continues to seek to find experimental ways of conveying subject matter.
